Multiple Lumps and Lymph Nodes

I posted 2 weeks ago about a large lump in my right breast that my doctor thought was a Fibroadenoma.

I had my 2ww appointment today. They did a mammogram which showed multiple lumps/growths in both breasts. So they then did an ultrasound which showed lymph nodes present in both armpits. The doctor did 3 biopsies, one from each breast and one from the right armpit. He also inserted a titanium marker into the breasts where he took the biopsies.  I can't even remember what he said that was for.

I now have to wait until 13th October for results and I I terrified. I don't even know how to feel. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

  • Hi Nixxie

That must have all been quite a shock. I've had biopsies in the past and I know that the waiting for results is so hard. I'm due to go to the Breast Clinic on Monday and anticipate that they will do biopsies then. Try to stay positive and distract yourself the best you can, do something you enjoy, not easy but it does help. I hope you get the results really soon, here if you need a chat x

  • Thank you for the reply.

The waiting is just horrible. I keep going to worst case scenarios.  Particularly because I have had 2 strokes in the past year and doctors can't find what's causing them. And googling is showing me that there is a link between strokes and active cancer. I know I shouldn't be googling, but it's so hard not to look things up.  I have Lupus too so I'm really hoping that everything is somehow related to the Lupus.

Just my luck though, I am now on antibiotics as well because one of the places they took a biopsy from is showing signs of infection.

  • So sorry to hear about the infection, hope they get that sorted soon for you. I know it's hard, but try not to overthink things and stop looking at Google. I went for tests yesterday and had convinced myself that the news would be bad, mainly because of what I'd read on Google, I was wrong! The waiting is hard, the fear of the unknown, but you can do it. Here if you need a chat x

  • Update from me...

So I managed to get to the 13th without losing my mind. I went in to the breast clinic that day, fully expecting to be told I had cancer. Thankfully the lumps are benign!! They are cysts I think. They are leaving the ones in the left breast alone but the large cyst in the right breast has a nasty infection so they put me on a second course of antibiotics and scheduled me for a follow up.

I had that this past Thursday  (20th) and although the nurse was pleased that the redness and warmth on the outside seems to have all but gone, she was concerned that it had grown. She measured it at 65x55mm. She called it an absolute unit!!!  She also noticed that both armpit lymph nodes are still very swollen. So she sent me for an ultrasound which confirmed it had grown. The radiographer also said it was still very angry on the inside. So he did an aspiration and withdrew some fluid from the cyst. That has been sent off for testing and i am now on a 3rd course of antibiotics and have another follow up this Thursday coming.

Should i be concerned that the fluid he withdrew from the cyst was mostly bloody? I was expecting a clear or yellow pus type liquid.

I have an appointment with my stroke consultant tomorrow aswell and am unsure on whether or not to mention all these breast issues. It might all be linked and relevant?
