Raised CA125- terrified

Hi,

I'm a 34 year old mum of 1 and have a complex health history. I had a liver transplant 7 years ago and have over a decade of cervical monitoring due to abnormalities (not cancer).

I'm immunosupressed and have been unwell since Jan.

Jan-April, I was treated for pleural effusion, and lots of liver related tests. Liver all clear but it was assumed caused the PE.

The PE has returned (confirmed Thurs) and I have an elevated CA125 level of 86.

I'm overdue on my period but not pregnant.

The doctors are now looking for malignancy due to the Ca125 result and I'm petrified.  Will have Ct and fluid aspiration today.

Appreciate this is complex- my question is specifically around the ca125 of 86 result- what are the chances of this being nothing? I can't bare the waiting.

Thanks in advance for your response/advise. X

  • Hi I know that worry but there are many reasons ca125 could be elevated mine was elevated just rececently but after an ultrasound scan and a hyeroscopy the other other day they removed a polyp and did a biopsy ,they said afterwards they couldn't see anything nasty but would send the polyp and biopsy to be checked so it sort of put my mind at ease ,I hope it all goes well for you I'm sure it will x
