Abdominal ct scan nervous

My story is I am 41, married with 2 young children. Our daughter is nearly 7 years old and our youngest daughter is 7 months old.

I have had bowel issues fo many years, diagnosed with IBS, but after an endoscopy they discovered I also had helicombactor pylori in 2019. Had antibiotics all seemed okay.

Early this year in April/May symptoms returned I was in so much pain waited 8 hours in A and E, said I suspected it was another flare up of helicombactor pylori but the on call gp said no and he implied I was wasting time and to go back to my gp.

My condition worsened over months so my wife hassled me for ages to see another gp saw one 2 weeks ago who immediately gave me tests ie blood and FIT etc they came back positive and also with surprise surprise helicombactor pylori once again.

Referred for ct scan with contrast that's today and then next week is colonoscopy endoscopy and gastroscopy.

I am scared and so is my wife we are hoping they can get to the root cause and treatment for my symptoms ie weight loss, bloating, heartburn, struggling to swallow and only eating small meals, horrific back ache all day and worse at night, nausea and vomiting, severe anaemia etc.

Will keep you updated, wish me luck for later. I wish you all the best on your journeys to find solutions to your pain and virtual hugs to hep with worries and anxieties xx

  • It sounds like your consultant is determined to get to the bottom of this - which is good news.
I've had all the investigations you've listed, the endoscopies can be uncomfortable but are bearable if you're able to relax and avoid tensing up.

Your mind is bound to be fixating on cancer but your symptoms may easily be down to a combination of other less scary conditions.

    Good luck!
