Justhanx - HPV positive with cell changes

I've got myself in a massive state of worry.

I had a smear test 1 year ago that showed CIN1 HPV positive the colposcopy was all fine.

Was told to come back in 6months for another this was inconclusive.

Waited another 6 months for another smear that came back CIN3 and HPV positive. I was sent to colposcopy, My cervix looked completely different to the first time I went. They removed lots of cells and took multiple biopsies.

I've since been piecing together symptoms which previously I ignored. Ie. Random cramps in my lower stomach, back pain, changes in discharge.

I've got myself so worked up and still have a 5 week wait for the results. I have 2 young kids and am only 27.

I just can't get my head around having CIN1 to nothing to CIN3 in a year. The thought of waiting and there still being some abnormal cells or more there is too much to deal with.

  • Hello Han6241 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear you are feeling so anxious and that you went from having CIN1 to CIN3 but try not to worry too much as having abnormal cells simply needs you need treatment which is highly effective in dealing with these. You can read more about what it means to have abnormal cervical cells on this page. Waiting for results is really stressful especially as 5 weeks can feel like a really long time but try to just take one day at a time and keep distracted and focused on other things while you are waiting for your results. I am sure they will zap all those abnormal cells and that everything will get sorted very soon so you can just then forget about this stressful time. Do mention these symptoms you've been having for a while to your GP if you haven't done so already and I am sure they will be able to tell you whether these symptoms are related to the cell changes or not.

I hope that you will hear from other forum members who have been in a simiilar situation before and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,
