Worried about multiple cancers

Hi all, I have posted a few times here now mainly about a mole I have that I'm worried about, but to be honest I have a range of symptoms that I'm worried are cancerous. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and looking for some reassurance as this is making me so anxious and obsessed. I do suffer with OCD / health anxiety meaning I obsess over bodily changes quite a bit. My current worries are -

* A mole on my left arm that has become tender and itchy in pregnancy. Sometimes the whole upper arm feels tender. Visually the mole looks exactly the same as it always has. I have privately referred myself to dermatology as two drs just told me to keep an eye on it after looking at it through a dermatascope.
* I was diagnosed with HPV and CIN1 before my pregnancy. I was told that there were mild changes that would likely go away by themselves. I was discharged for a year, my follow up being next month but postponed until after baby is born meaning smear will be 3 months late. Consultant not concerned, I'm worried it has progressed.
*tender armpits (both) and neck. Can't feel any swelling as such but tender to touch and when swallowing.

*tender outer left breast same side as mole. Thought I felt a lump but was told it's a milk duct from pregnancy.

I have more or less convinced myself that I have cancer throughout my body and feel that nobody cares or is taking me seriously enough to see me urgently. With the experiences people have had here, does it seem like my symptoms are linked to a cancer in particular?

im sorry to sound so neurotic but I’d really appreciate any feedback after several drs trips and still feeing symptomatic. You all seem so helpful and understanding. Thanks in advance

  • Hello llmt,

Poor you it does sound like you suffer from health anxiety and I hope that this is not having an impact on your pregnancy - congratulations and try and enjoy this time if you can and this anticipation of having a new baby. It does sound like your anxiety is quite strong at the moment and this is something you should discuss with your GP who will be able to give you some good advice and techniques to help you get over it and help you regain peace of mind. So try and discuss this with your doctor when you get a chance.

No one on this forum will be able to diagnose your symptoms but make sure you mention these also to your doctor. If you don't feel reassured by what your doctor told you, you could also try and seek a second opinion and you can find out more about this on this page.  Your body is going through so many changes during your pregnancy that some of your symptoms may be as you have been advised linked to that so try not to worry too much if you can. It is also normal that your smear has been postponed as well as your follow up after the baby is born - the consultant is not worried it seems about it and probably feels it is safer to wait until after the baby is born.

Best of luck with the continuation of your pregnancy. I hope you feel better soon and that the anxiety as well as the symptoms improve quickly.

    Best wishes,
