Swollen neck

Hi,

For over a month I have had a feeling of a closed throat on the right side of my neck. I started to feel this up my jaw 3 weeks ago so proceeded to massage it to try and release the tension when I massaged my under jaw/neck noticed that there were lumps/swelling(unsure how long they have been there)

i left this for a week to see if it would go away before phoning the doctor as the feeling is very uncomfortable - almost as if someone is holding their hand around my throat. They advised to go to my dentist and have them check my mouth first for any causes of swollen glands.

Dentist and orthodontist could not see any reason upon an inspection and looking at X-rays.
i don't have a repeat appointment with the GP until the 18th of October.
I'm starting to worry slightly as I've not been unwell or had any cold/flu symptoms and I know that lymph nodes are only supposed to swell when fighting infection.
Has anyone had this before - what was the outcome?

  • Hello Fizzx

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns recently. It's good to know that you've already made an appointment to see your GP and that your dentist didn't have any immediate cause for concern when you saw them.

There could be any number of different reasons for the lumps/swellings that you've noticed. The important thing is that you get these checked by your GP as they've not subsided.

Hopefully the Dr will be able to give you some reassurance when you see them.

    Best wishes,
