Endometrial thickening Post Menopausal Bleeding

Hi

I have a slightly complicated issue. Starting from the beginning.. I am 52. I suffer from frequent UTI's and after sending in latest urine sample, my gp asked if I was passing blood. I said I wasn't sure as I was bleeding currently from what I thought was my period starting again after 15 months ! Alarm bells rang with her and I was fast tracked through to post menopausal bleeding clinic at the hospital. To be honest I thought it was a bit over the top until I read how serious it could be..

2 weeks later I went to the PMB clinic. I had an ultrasound which showed endometrium thickening of 9.7mm. They attempted an office pipelle biopsy but couldn't get any tissue for sampling. I was then booked in for a Hysteroscopy, D&C and biopsy under GA within 2 weeks.. 2 days later I haemorrhaged and had to go a&e, I bled heavily for the next 9 days passing large clots.

3 and a half weeks later I got my surgery, which was yesterday 27th Sept. The hospital was a bit chaotic, no bed on admittance had to go straight to theatre from the waiting room. A brief discussion with the surgeon who says, so I believe you want a mirena coil fitting for heavy bleeding ? Fully assuming he has my details infront of him I don't question that he knows why I am there !! He says it can be normal for women to still have periods until they are 55. I was a bit perplexed but thought he was saying it could be hormones. No gowns available had to wear a plastic see through covid PPE apron while wearing nothing underneath ! wheeled down to theatre.. there they delayed me because I hadn't been given a pregnancy test !!

Back on the ward the surgeon pops in and says everything looks ok, we inserted mirena coil to stop heavy bleeding, we didn't take any biopsy..endometrium is very thin, atrophic,  no follow up needed and again tells me some women have period until 55 years old.. what this has to do with my post menopausal bleeding I don't know.

Woke up today feeling extremely confused. Spoke with my GP who is alarmed at all this and feels that my hysteroscopy has been carried out under crossed wires. We don't have the discharge letter yet, she says it should be available within 2 weeks.  Was the surgeon under the impression I was having this done for heavy menstrual bleeding do you think ? Can anyone make any sense of why scan shows 9.7mm then very thin, atrophic at Hysteroscopy ? I can only guess this has something to do with my haemorrhage 3 weeks earlier, is this possible ?

Now waiting for my GP to make enquiries and feeling like I've got nowhere :(
