They will send you a report, did they find hemorrhoids?where about  was the polyps in your colon or rectum? 

Embarrassingly I don't know. She examined me with her finger and said she could feel a lump. This is when she got me the stool sample pot a fit sample told me I will be sent for a colonoscopy and will need my bloods done.

Sorry you are going through all this worry.

It's good they are doing all the tests to rule out the bad stuff.

Polyps can bleed. If not removed they can sometimes become cancerous in the future.

The fit test is very good at detecting blood in the sample, so if you have a bleeding polyp, piles or a tear at the time of the test, it will come back positive but doesn't have to mean bad news.

Your age also, not impossible for a 30 year old to get bowel cancer but wery rare.

Have you had your colonoscopy yet? If they come across any small polyps, they painlessly remove them at the same time.

Thank you so much, she said there were no piles anal tears that she could see/feel just the possible polyp. I'm going to take my stool sample and fit test to the surgery in the morning- not sure how long results from these take to come back? I think I'm more worried as after she had done an examination that's when she told me I needed to do the tests go for a colonoscopy and have blood tests, it just seemed to move so fast from before she done the examination if that makes sense. Hopefully the colonoscopy won't be too much of a wait even though I've read on here they aren't very pleasant.

You will be offered sedation, I chose not have sedation which meant I could leave right away , the consultant will talk you through your colonoscopy and tell you what he finds that has been my experience good luck 

I have to have colonoscopies yearly now, always have sedation and gas and air. As long as someone can pick you up afterwards and you aren't left alone for 24hours. It dooesn't put you to sleep, just makes you drousy. You should get the results on the day. xx

Hi, I'm an endoscopy nurse, may be able to answer any questions you have about colonoscopy.

Polyps are really common. Some bleed, but this doesn't mean they're cancerous. Some polyps just have a real good blood supply. Polyps can be adenomas which have the potential to become cancerous, but most do not. Polyps can also be "hyperplastic" which are completely harmless and won't ever become cancerous.

Lumps felt around the rectum on a PR exam are commonly piles (haemorrhoids) or skin tags, your nurse is just going the "better safe than sorry" route, try not to panic too much yet as a PR exam doesn't really give us anything certain to go on.
