Low grade Dyskaryosis means mild changes they may do cone biopsy try not to worry , I had this over 25 yrs ago had cone biopsy consultant said all changes gone ...yes I googled and it wrecked my head 

Please try not to let your thoughts get ahead of themselves. Low grade dyskariosis means there are minor changes to cervical cells, but this is not cancer. You have realised you shouldn't go on Google, so please try not to as it will ramp up your anxiety.

The next step would be to have a colposcopy, where your cervix can be closely examined, and any treatment would be determined from the results of that. But low grade changes can regress without treatment, so you may just be monitored. I notice someone has mentioned a cone biopsy, but this is not something that would be done nowadays for low grade changes.

I think putting it all together my head is in a bit of a tizz. Bleeding (I've had on and off for years because of the mini pill but it's been more lately). I've had some pain in my hip (I've started to do more advanced yoga so was putting it down to that) and back pain which again I've had for years due to premature disc degeneration but my head is putting all of these together and then adding the abnormal cells I am an extreme worrier anyway and all I've done today is cry. I'm struggling to shut off and not feel the pains in my hip / back since I've had my letter. I know my head is making it worse. It's also telling me they got the "low" grade wrong and it will be worse when I get there. I do appreciate your time to reply X 

I think it can be easy to put things together in your mind and come up with a conclusion, but anxiety can make things seem so much worse than they might be. It is possible for the results of a colposcopy to differ from those of a smear, but it's impossible to know what's going on until you get a further examination so for now, all you can do is sit tight, wait for further tests anD keep away from Google. x

Minska - Pleased to see your view that low grade changes dont lead to a cone biopsy these days.. I've realised that there's a move to less over-treatment...

I had a letz treatment, That's not quite as invasive as a cone biopsy I think... tho diagram of what was taken from me looks like a cone..and 15 mm of cervix, when max in letz procedure is usually 10mm, I read..

And I now realise  that even the LETZ procedure is just for higher grade issues-

Is that right? I was concerned afterwards to realise this . I only had low grade changes!

Women need to know to ask and not presume that a letz/leep is needed for low grade changes, provided they are monitored.

I hope JBROOKS87 is by now more aware and happier with her treatment. Maybe the low grade changes have gone back to normal. They often do in younger people apparently
