Advice needed stomach can possibility?

Hi, I've recently been quite poorly with stomach ulcers and bleeding and have had 2 endoscopies one as recent as yesterday to find out why I was still bleeding. The doctor said they have taken a few biopsies as the ulcer looks abnormal and that they  are testing for stomach cancer. Has anyone been through anything similar? I'm 40 years old and so worried. I haven't told anyone as my Mums recently had an operation to remove her voice box due to having throat cancer so the family are dealing with enough and I don't want to worry or stress anyone unnecessarily. So just wondering if anyone can give some advice please

  • Hello OXO1981

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health concerns and that now as a result you're waiting on biopsy results. It's understandably a difficult time.

Many of our members will know how difficult this period of uncertainty can be. The unknown is a scary prospect to face and so waiting for results can cause anxiety. I totally understand that you don't want to worry your family given your Mum's recent diagnosis and surgery. Do you have a good friend that you could confide in and lean on for some support?

I know that many people have found it helpful to chat things through with our team of nurses and I'd encourage you to give them a call. I'm sure they would be happy to offer any advice, information and support that they can whilst you're waiting for your results. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch OXO1981 and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
