Swollen lymph node

Hi all,

I am aware of the many posts discussing the same thing, however thought it would be worth posting my own concerns

A few weeks ago I noticed a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck. I freaked out immediately however the next day pretty much, I started to get a cold, I think a sinus infection. This put my mind at ease a bit, as I could put the lymph node down to this, however my cold cleared up and here I am today, the lymph node is still swollen.

My anxeity has been utterly horrific, having panic attacks daily. I went to docs last thursday and she seemed pretty confident it was just swollen, was soft and mobile, however as my cold was long gone, I'd have expected it to have went away by now. I have a follow up appointment soon to see how it is getting on.

I can't help but feel like the lump is now hard compared to before (although probably isn't), and I don't think it has grown. Its around the size of the top section of my finger.

Can anyone else who has had similar put my mind at ease a bit? Has anyone else had the same issue that turned out to be innocent? I know it is mostl likely nothing to worry about but would be nice to hear from others in similar situations!xxx:happy:

  • Hi, I'm currently experiencing the same thing, but it's been going on a bit longer. My lymph nodes on my neck are swollen, originally it was thought I had glandular fever or some other virus, but after a few weeks I had no symptoms except the swollen nodes, especially on the right side. I was referred to Haematology and I'm having an ultrasound and yet more bloods on Monday next week. Fingers crossed yours are due to your cold and that they may subside soon. I've read around here that reactive nodes can sometimes take some time to go down.
