Endometrial sampling still bleeding after over 2wks

So thankful to of found this page. Can't believe there's nothing on line. I am 48 going through peri menopause on HRT Evorel sequi patches & on desogestrel pill. Also I have Crohn's disease currently on Budesonide 6mg.

I had an endometrial sampling done over 2 weeks ago. Expecting it all to be fine after 2/5 days. I had a polyp removed. After the procedure I bled as normal then it slowed down to spotting then it started again. It is lighter for sure after having a course of antibiotics but I have blood on the toilet paper every time I go to the toilet. Little spotting too. I finished the antibiotics yesterday pretty sure they gave me more cramps. I've Got mild tummy ache this morning. Just wondered has anyone else experienced this? I have been in contact with my doc. If I'm still bleeding by next Thursday they will refer me to gynae again. I got a letter from gynae yesterday, still waiting on results of the biopsy but at the end of the letter it said I would be discharged if the biopsy is ok & to get in touch if I bleed again for 12 mths!! I am sexually active & been advised no tampons or sex until I stop bleeding.

Any advice would be great thanks

  • Hello Kabie and welcome to Cancer Chat,

It must be a really anxious time for you as you are still waiting on results of the biopsy. Seeing that blood every time you go to the toilet must be pretty distressing too. You did very well to get in touch with your doctor about this  and to mention too you've got tummy ache.

I hope that the bleeding subsides soon. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.  Waiting for results is often described here as nerve-racking and there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
