Been recalled for a second breast biopsy.

Dear all.

I'm going out of my mind with worry.

I had a breast biopsy taken on the 8th of September, only found out today I have to go for another Vacuum-assisted biopsy.

I'm now crazy with worry, literally going out of my mind.

Has anyone had a similar experience, and should I expect the worst?

Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.

  • Hi Sarah.

It does sound like very similar stories. I know the waiting in between can't be helped, but this is up there being one of the most stressful times in my life.

I don't feel I have support atm, let's hope tomorrow I get a few more answers.

    All the best on Friday

  • Good luck with your call tomorrow.  Let me know when your biopsy is

  • Thank you Sarah, will do x

  • Hi Gerry,

how did you get on with your conversation with the nurse?

I just wanted to let you know that my lump has been diagnosed as a papilloma which is a benign tumour.  The letter I have received says the second biopsy is routine in order to be certain.  Although obviously this could reveal something more sinister I am feeling relieved and less anxious.
hope your news is also positive

  • Hi Sarah.

I'm so happy for you, that's great news!!

Spoke to a breast care nurse yesterday.
    She said they grade the biopsy results B1, B2, B3, B4, B5

B1 and B2 are none cancerous.

    B3 Lesions of uncertain malignant.

    B4 and B5 are cancer.

Mine is a B3, I’ve got to have a vacuum assist biopsy that takes away the whole area. Appointments are taking up to 4 weeks.

She said it’s about a 50/50 chance of it being cancerous xx

  • So 50/50. The waiting is so hard isn't it?  I am sorry it's not better news but happy for you that there is still hope of good news.  And the lump will be gone in just a few weeks. Keep me posted.

  • Just thought I would let you know that my second biopsy  took away the whole lump (which they hadn't told me before the day) which has gone off to be tested.  They left a clip in me to mark the area as if they find anything I will need more surgery.  Just have to wait and see now. I hope you now have your appointment?

  • Hi,

I was diagnosed with a fibroadenoma a few years ago, after suffering with sharp stabbing pains in my right breast, I couldn't feel a lump. I had a biopsy taken which confirmed it. Over the last few months I though I could now feel a lump, but didn't go back to the GP until I had discharge from the nipple. I've since been back to the clinic, had mammograms, US, biopsy & marker clip inserted. The consultant reported a 'suspicious looking lesion' and I was booked to see him again on 26th Oct, as he is now on leave for 2 wks, however I got a call today from his secretary, saying they'd been able to get the results back from the lab sooner than expected & could book me in with one of his team on Mon. I'm glad I don't have to wait, but now I'm not sure whether they've got me in sooner because it's not serious or because it is serious.

    Hope you're all ok

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear you are going through this.

I just wanted to say that I had an appointment come through for 5 weeks after my first biopsy and spent a lot of time speculating whether the gap meant good news,  even my GP joined in!  It was only once I had been discussed at MDT and was called in for a second biopsy that I realised the first appointment letter was generated the day after my biopsy when they would not have known anything and the appointment was probably just a place holder in the system. It was cancelled as other tests have happened. I am just saying I am not sure you can tell either way from having a quicker appointment so try not to overthink it.  I don't know about you but my temptation is to read into everything.

i hope everything is okay on Monday.

  • Thank you. I've got my head around different scenarios, just so I'm prepared. I need to be able to take in the information I'm given on Mon, either way. They were all lovely at my first appt & very thorough.

I hope you have some news soon Gerry.

    Xx
