Confused

Hi everyone! I recently went to my GP as I found a mole and because it's two different colours, itchy and abit bigger than my other moles he referred me to see a dermatologist so they got me in the next day and they just put something on it & took some pics of it which I'm just abit confused as I thought they would do a biopsy has this happened to anyone else?

  • Hi,

It's rare that they biopsy at the referral appointment. This is because they need the time, staff and facilities to do excision surgery. The photos taken with the dermascope will be examined for any changes in cell structure. They will contact you either saying it's benign, or to see you again to monitor it or for it to be removed for biopsy. I hope this helps. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
