Hi
I am olive, female and 74 years old. Looking for some advice please. My doctor wants me to have a colonoscopy with regard to bowel cancer and I am really worried.
Went to the hospital to have my polyp removed. Had to have two enemas which was very unpleasant. Doctor started and the same thing happened not clear enough so he had to stop. I have to go through the whole bowel prep again so they can try again, that will make it four times. Don't know how I am going to cope again
Hi do u mind if I ask a question.?? I went to doc in 21, constipation, bloating, very excessive wind and upper abdominal left side pain. I went do gp and long story short had endometrial cancer. At the time was waiting colonoscopy which I cancelled as was same week as hysterectomy. Since hysterectomy no probs till last month, all these problems are back, couldn't see doc but saw nurse who gv me laxatives, my fear was stomach or bowel cancer before they found endometrial, so now old fears are back, do u think I should be worried. Sorry for jumping on someone else's post x
Hi [@Mario11], if your symptoms are as you describe I don't see any red flags, but as you have cancer history it's worth checking out. I wouldn't panic too much though, those symptoms could be down to a number of things that aren't cancer.
Hi all.
I have had a few symtoms of something wrong with my bowels for the last few months! Constipation, soft stools (not diarreaha just a lot softer), blood on the stool normally bright red, mucus on the stool, excessive gas, abdominal pain, and a lot of pain/pressure in my bum. My bloods are fine. But my stool inflammation level has been elevated between 300-400 both times it has been done. I am pregnant. The dr reffered me for an urgent colonoscopy. I had to chase the referral and finally saw a consultant on Friday. He was rude, checking his emails while I was talking to him, was interested in the photos I had been told take by the GP. Said he will see me in 4 months as it's all pregnancy related and *** the situation then in the mean time take fibogel. It's causing me worry and anxiety when I should be enjoying my pregnancy. Iv been to hospital 4 times with the pain. It's making me so miserable. The reason he won't perform the colonoscopy is because I'm pregnant. Iv seen 4 Drs from a pregnancy side of things and they have all said there's active inflammation in the bowel which isn't pregnancy related. I'm at a loss now and don't know what to do!

Oh goodness i do feel for you,it might be because you get yourself so worked up ,that all your muscles clamp up, even with the sedative. Gosh that's tough. I don't know if you can disscuss thus with your gp,abs see if there's any other way in which the tests could be done.. ie maybe putting you out or near completed under,as u know the sedation they usualy give you onky makes you relax a bit you are still very aware of what's going on. Mught be worth making an appointment to discuss this. Good luck.
Hi
I went yesterday again this time for a polypectamy, I explained l could not go through this all again as this was the 4th time , if they couldn't get it out it would have to stay. The doctor promised to take it out and he did with no complications l am so thrilled and I don't have to go back.
