Confused and anxious

I spotted a large and new/undiscovered swelling and had to go through three different services to get a GP referral, which went wrong. I misheard him on multiple counts, he examined an area lower than the lump and he didn't specify what scan he had referred me to.

New symptoms are appearing and somehow the lump is even fluctuating in size. The GP told me that since it shrank before the appointment, the lump would likely dissapear before the scan, but it grew within the 8 hours after seeing him. I even found a smaller lump underneath.

Has anyone ever experienced a swelling that fluctuated in size and if so, was it cancer?

  • Hello CS7THE

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling anxious about a recent lump that you discovered. You did exactly the right thing in getting it checked with a GP and it's good to hear that they've referred you for a scan to determine what's going on.

It's understandable that you may still be feeling worried and that you have some questions. You could always give your GP surgery a call and ask them to let you know what scan the Dr has referred you for. Hopefully, this will give you some peace of mind.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and the results will bring some reassurance for you.

    Best wishes,
