Second Lump found

Hi all
I'm new to the group..so thank you all for the welcome..
Last year my girlfriend, who is 54 years old, found a small lump under her left breast but fortunately and to a great relief it was a cyst..
But about 2 weeks ago she discovered a new larger lump..in fact you could feel it straight away after close inspection...her GP has referred to a breast clinic to have a mammogram tomorrow morning..I'm going with her..
I'm really worried although I don't show it and she puts on a brave face but I know the worst is crossing our minds..
Can a breast have multiple lumps at different times and still not be cancer? Has any one else experienced this before? and what was the outcome?
Thank you all for taking time to read this..wishing you all a good day

  • As a partner of someone who was diagnosed with BC, i totally get the fear you're going through. How it's also wiser to keep all your fears out of earshot of your partner. I was the same too.

The good news, many, many women get multiple lumps, and they turn out to be nothing serious. There are many threads on here stipulating exactly that. She might just be prone to getting cysts. There's also other benign lumps and bumps that women regularly get. They're a lot more common than cancer. But until you guys have answers, the worry will remain.

  • Thank you so much for replying ProfBaw...much appreciated...I have read a few other threads concerning this but it's always nice to get a direct response..

I'm trying to look on the positve side as much as I can...I know treatment for BC is very advanced now but of course the concerns remain..

Thank you once more ProfBaw for your words of support..

Have a great day - regards
