Breast clinic appointment, I’m scared

Hi,

I've got a swollen left boob which is quite painful, Gp said it feels very swollen and quite lumpy so she referred me to breast clinic. My appointment is next Wednesday, however I have a 17 month old and all I can think about it is not getting to see her grow up. I just keep thinking the worst case scenario, I'm losing weight from stressing so much and not eating properly! I've convinced myself it's cancer, especially as I have lots of family history of cancer in general

  • There are lots of different things it could be.  I've had cysts, mastitis and lots of other things over the years. Easy to say but try not to let your imagination run away with you.  We all tend to think the worst, it's sometimes human nature.  Best thing you can do is get to the appointment next week and find out what's going on with you.  Consultants at the breast clinic see hundreds of people per month so have so much experience in diagnosis.  Some will need further investigation and others won't as the cause of the problem will become more obvious once they've run some tests.  Good luck on your visit and hope everything works out for you.

  • Hi

  • Hey,

Thankfully was absolutely fine. They said it was age related changes, In your 30's he said this happens. He also said pain is not a sign of breast cancer apparently, so he didn't want to scan me. I was literally in and out in less than 3 minutes. I'm just glad it was fine. All that worrying and getting myself worked up!

    Thank you for asking

  • That's great news, I'm really pleased for you, must have been a huge relief x
