Persistent hpv and borderline changes

Hi everyone,

ive tested positive for high risk HPV for 2 smears in a row and this time there we're borderline changes. The letter says I should receive an appointment for colposcopy within 2 weeks, and this is really worrying me. Is it usual to get the appointment so quickly?

Also does anyone know what is classed as persistent infection with Hpv?

my smear results arrived after 9 days, so very quickly, and I expected it to be a bad result because I just have a feeling something isn't right.

  • Hi Daffodilanne,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear you don't have long to wait for the appointment, although I can understand this may be causing concerns also. Try not to read anything into the timing of it. You may find it helpful to speak to one of our nurses about your questions, to help with some peace of mind. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5), or you can post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
