lump on sternal end of collarbone.

I have a lump on the sternal/medial end on the right side of my collarbone. It is directly on the collarbone, possibly on the sternoclavicular joint, not above or around. It is in the exact same place as the bone in my left collar bone, basically on the joint, but on the right side it sticks out and is much more prominent. It could be bone, maybe it has always been like this and I've just not noticed as bones can be asymmetrical I guess, or maybe it's a swollen joint. Obviously I will have to go to the doctor, but I was just wondering if anybody else has experience the same and has had a diagnosis.

  • Hello smjemsx and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

You are totally right, the best thing to do really is to go to the doctor's and show this lump on the end of your collarbone. Your doctor will be best placed to tell you more about what it might be and give you the reassurance you need at the moment. So don't hesitate to make an appointment to see your GP and to describe all this to your doctor.

I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have had similar issues and that they will come and share their story with you.

Everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern and that you get to talk to a medical expert about this soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi there, I wondered if you had an update after seeing your GP. I have something very similar and am due to see the GP tomorrow. Thanks

  • Hi, I also have a hard small lump on the sternal end of my collar bone. It's on my left side. I have seen the gp (phone apt) who has referred me to orthopedics but I am awaiting the appointment and quite anxious. Do either of the previous posters on this thread have reassurance / diagnosis they can share?

  • Hi, just to update, I had a lump on my sternoclavicular joint, felt like hard bone. Turned out to be arthritis so was very pleased it wasn't cancer
