Cervical etropion

Hi all,

A few years back I had CIN 3. I had it removed and following a test of cure 6 weeks after that I was back on to 3 yearly smears.

My latest smear is normal and in the mean time I had been referred to colposcopy due to bleeding after sex. I went to colposcopy and got told I had cervical etropion and that I can have treatment for it if wanted to. I decided I'd wait 6 weeks and let him know at my follow up so in the mean time he did a punch biopsy, which came back clear ( this was November 2021.

Fast forward to last month, I went back to the docs as I'd missed the 6 week check up (was a phone call) so I had to get referred again. They referred me and I went back to have a colposcopy last month where they cauterised the cervix and took another punch biopsy. (Came back normal)

I was surprised to have no discoloured discharge at all and thought I was healing well until 10 days post where I had a period ( I had just finished period two days prior to the treatment) the paperwork said that I'd experience some light bleeding but this was a bit heavier than what I was used to and lasted around the same time my period did (less than two weeks prior)

Now I am 4 weeks post op and one week late on my period and panicking. I am definitely not pregnant but ready confused. There is no information on this online and I was wondering if any of this has happened to anyone else who has had the same treatment?

Thank you

  • Hello Janjac

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns and that you're now worried after your recent colposcopy.

If things don't settle then do get back in touch with your GP who will be best placed to give you some advice and arrange any appropriate tests or referrals.

    I hope things improve soon.

    Best wishes,
