Advice

I'm looking for some help/support/advice.
I've been saying to my partner for the last few months I feel there is something wrong with me, things don't seem right. I feel exhausted all the time but struggle to sleep at night. I often feel unwell. (I'm hardly ever ill) and found a lump on my groin. I went to the doctors and they made me feel stupid for getting it checked and I was in and out within a matter of minutes. It's been about 5-6 weeks since and it is still there. It isn't painful and is about pea sized. The only time it hurts is if I have tight underwear on or wear a bodysuit.

I had a smear test done 2 weeks ago which came back with some abnormalities. I went for a colposcopy today and they told me I have high grade precancerous cells covering a large area and took a biopsy. Stupidly I didn't ask any questions because I was too overwhelmed. Can somebody explain what this means? (In simple terms)

I've now got myself in a state that the lump and abnormalities are linked. Just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope I've given enough information. X

  • Hello Tj2022

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns and that your recent cervical screening results showed some cell changes. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about and wondering if your symptoms may be linked.

There's lots of good information about cervical cell changes and what may happen next available on the Jo's Trust website and I'd really encourage you to have a read through some of their pages. I'm sure it will help answer some of the questions that you have.

In terms of the other symptoms that you're experiencing, do get back in touch with your GP if you're still feeling anxious. If you'd able to make an appointment with another Dr then hopefully they will be able to give you some more reassurance about things.

If you want to chat things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,
