Persistent "cystitis" & feeling of not fully emptying bowel

I was wondering if anyone has ever had similar symptoms to me as I feel like I'm hitting a brick wall even getting an appointment with my GP.

Some possibly useful information:

27yrs old female.

Have Lynch syndrome (genetic mutation) so have a colonoscopy and gastroscopy every 2 years. Just had them today, and both clear (yay).

For the best part of 10 years I have been getting what I have assumed is cystitis every 2-4 weeks. It only usually ever lasts for about half a day then goes by itself but it's been getting more serious in that I am regularly wetting myself now, which is of course very embarrassing. I can't track a particular thing that triggers it, but I am essentially toilet bound for half a day unless I wear incontinence underwear.

I also suffer from regular constipation (I'd say 85%+ of my bowel movements are constipated) and often feel like I haven't fully emptied my bowel after going.

Does anyone have any advice please?

Thank you

  • Hello Somerset1234

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having continued health issues with your bladder for a number of years. It's understandable that you may be feeling worried about what's responsible for your symptoms.

Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to say what may be causing your problems. Hopefully, if anyone here has had similar problems they will reply to share their experiences with you but in the meantime, do get in touch with your GP. Explain how debilitating your symptoms have become and how they're impacting your life. They will be best placed to arrange any appropriate tests or referrals.

I do hope that you have some answers soon and that this sets you on the path to things improving.

    Best wishes,
