Womb Cancer?? Confused and in pain!

Hi all

I've been going to the Dr's for nearly 2 years with symptoms. I was totally fobbed off and at two separate points told even though my symptoms may be cancer symptoms I was too young to have it (was 33 when I started asking for help).

I had a scan last year 18mm thick womb lining and was told although it was unusual again as I wasn't 40 they weren't doing anything further.

Anyway after complaining crying and kicking up a fuss I got to see a gaenacologist last month who was just awful wouldn't even examine me and said it was IBS.

Jump forward to another forced referral, another scan and a different gaenacologist and he was amazing.

He said all my symptoms and my scan results point to womb cancer and I should have been biopsied last year. I have all the risk factors ie pcos, fat, not birthed a child, family history and the only one I don't tick off is post menopausal. I had no idea these were the risk factors and I feel incredibly let down.

I had a biopsy on Friday - had to clamp my cervix and go in twice awful experience but important.

I genuinely went on Friday under the guise that I was going to be told nothing was wrong and just to have a coil and the Dr validated my symptoms and worries.

Sorry for such a long ranty post and I know it could turn out not to be cancer but I didn't know where else to go with this information.

In still sore and in pain from the biopsy did other people experience this? Also I've been told 4 week wait - have any been coming back sooner.

Mixed emotions right now but mainly anger at terrible GPs who did not care about anything but covid for the last 2 years (my person experience not speaking about all GPs obviously).

I suppose I'm just looking for some shared experience and to be told I'm not being dramatic haha

Thanks if you got to the end.

  • Welcome to the forum Anonymity87 although I'm really sorry to read what you've been through to get to this point.

It's completely understandable to feel angry and let down by what has happened but I'm really glad you finally came across a physician who took your symptoms seriously and made you feel validated.

I hope the pain and soreness you're contending with from your biopsy starts to improve soon but if it doesn't, or gets worse, do be sure to let your gynaecologist or GP know so they can make sure everything's o.k.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their thoughts and experiences with you soon but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our nurses you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday (except bank holidays) between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very supportive, and insightful, and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

We're thinking of you Anonymity87 and will have our fingers crossed the results bring good news when they come through.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
