Colon Polyp biopsy

My colonoscopist said the polyp 1-1.5cm looked 'iffy', she took 5 samples and ordered CT and MRI. I was given a leaflet about the colo-rectal specialist that will phone me with next steps and I feel like everyone is saying cancer without actually saying the word cancer. Is this normal to prepare for the worse but then leave you waiting 2 weeks for results? There isn't really a question in here is there, I think I'm just scared and waffling on. Sorry!

  • Hello Pevans and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can imagine you were not reassured when they told you that your polyp looked 'iffy' and I hope that you won't have to wait too long for results. I hope that you find out soon what the next steps might be. I know it is easy to anticipate the worst but there may be other reasons that explain this polyp looking a bit unusual. All you can do for now is wait which isn't the easiest thing and there are tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

It's normal to be scared during this period of uncertainty. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
