Lump going right through tongue

Hi I have a lump inside my tongue, I say inside its closer to the bottom than top but I can feel it from both sides with my fingers and can feel it with top and bottom teeth when I run it through them, it feels a bit sore like an ulcer but I can't see any trace of the ulcers I've had before which some times appear white or red and when touched with fingers kinda sting. Anyway I'm posting because I can't find anything about lumps inside the tongue just on the outside or lumps in the roof of the mouth or underneath.

So I guess my question is other than cancer what could cause a lump deep inside?

Thanks

  • No one can even begin to diagnose you on here. You either need to see a doctor or dentist, and don't delay it. There's a whole host of things it could be and only an in person appointment with a qualified doctor or dentist, and maybe followed by a biopsy can give you the answer you seek. but yeah, the general rule with any change in the mouth is if it's persisted for 2 weeks with little or no improvement, it needs to be seen. Most dental/oral issues clear up or begin to disappear within 14 days.

The caveat to that, if things get worse or large, then get seen before the 2 weeks.
