Worried about breast lump

I noticed a large breast lump about 2 &half weeks ago, but also had temp, redness to breast. Ooh GP said non lactating mastitis and gave me antibiotics. The temperatures and redness went but the large lump has stayed. See gp again and she has referred me to the 2 week breast clinic. I've got my appointment in 1 weeks time. The lump is an odd shape and appears to be hard. My normal brain tells me it's just a lump from matitis but my irrational head is panicking!! Has anyone else had anything like this !

  • Hi there ..

The scariest time is waiting for tests then results .. I'm taking it from your post you may have had a baby recently .. if so, I got mastitis ( I think that was the word ) after my second baby .. it was hard lumps in breast and even down one arm .. so that is a possible reason ..

As last time I knew 8 out of ten lumps are benign.. I had 5 call backs over the years .. first four where all o.k .. one was pebble shape and hard and movable .. one was pea shaped .. they were all different .. my 5th time it was positive .. but 5 years on, still here, still standing ...

I wish I'd know the percentages on my call backs .. I'd still have worried but not panicked... they give you a quick refural as ruteen to make sure what it is .. so please keep as busy as poss .. try not to panic as then it feels overwhelming... the odds are on your side ... let us know how you go ... Chrissie....
