Lump on collarbone

Hi there. I discovered my collarbone was swollen just under 2 weeks ago. It appears to still be increasing in size. It is painless. I also have been experiencing itching, a cough & occasional chest pain. I now also have a slight dry rash around my neck & chest. I was expecting the GP to brush it off as an infection but he seemed concerned about the size & has done an urgent referral to check for lymphoma. I have a couple of lipomas but this is long not round & feels different to the lipomas. He also didn't suggest it could be one. I suppose I'm just looking for experiences to see if I should prepare myself for bad news. My Google research seems to suggest a painless lump on the collarbone that hasn't been caused by injury is fairly unusual. Thanks for any thoughts / info.

  • Hello SarahCoco80 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

Try not to pay any attention if you can to what the unreliable Dr Google may say as it will rarely give accurate advice. It's good that the GP is being thorough and having it looked at closely and I hope that you get some definite answers soon. It can't be easy in the meantime not to know what is causing these issues and to feel in the dark with this.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
