Suspicious mole waiting for a biopsy date

Hi I'm new here and just looking for any one else who has had a mole change colour or that have been through something similar with a mole. I've always had a large triangle raised mole on my leg with irregular tan borders which make my mole look circular from a distance until you're close to it, in April I noticed it was looking bloodshot pinky (when I press my mole it blanches) the mole also has a black spot inside, I saw my gp who didn't seem concerned and refured me to the hospital under tww. I had my appointment today, the nurse looked and said hair growing out of a mole is a good sign also blood vessels are there but that little black bit I would like to get the doctor to have a look.. the doctor came back had a look and said through the Dermoscopy the black dot looks grey/blue so we will get you back for a biopsy to be sure but it may come back just a normal mole. I can't stop worrying with stress, all I do is Google it says the grey/blue dot is melanoma also on the sheet of paper I think it said suspected Amelenoma, id just like to know if anyone else has had rainbow stories after your mole changing

  • Hi Siobhani,

Please don't Google - it's a sure way to drive yourself mad with stress. No one, not even the Internet, can tell if your mole is malignant. That's why they have to remove and biopsy anything that MAY be melanoma. 75% of patients referred to dermatology are given a clean bill of health so there is a chance you will too. So step away from Google and fill your waiting time with activities that will take your mind off your mole. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long for it to be removed and for the results.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
