Feeling lost - breast lump and shoulder pain

Hi yesterday I found a lump in my left breast, saw Dr today and he's referring me.to the breast clinic. My worry is for the last month my left shoulder has been aching so blooming much like its constantly being pulled from the socket. I stupidly googled if there's a connection and Google mentioned the achy shoulder due to C spreading. So my question really is has anyone else had shoulder pain in the same side as the lump, but it hadn't spread?

  • Hello Worriedkel and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

You did the right thing in going to see the doctor and I can imagine you are feeling rather anxious at the moment as you are waiting to be seen at the breast clinic. While you are waiting to be seen, I thought I would share with you this information on what to expect from your breast clinic appointment which I hope will help you prepare yourself ahead of your appointment. I hope you won't have to wait too long to be seen.

Try and avoid Googling anything if you can as it will only make you feel more anxious and fear the worst when this will be the least likely scenario. It is possible that your shoulder pain is totally unrelated to your breast lump but when you talk to someone at the breast clinic, make sure you mention this shoulder pain. Do talk to your GP about this shoulder issue so that they can give you some advice on how to best treat it so that you are not so much in pain anymore.

I hope this shoulder pain goes away soon and that you get some definite answers soon regarding this breast lump.

    Best wishes,
