So scared. being investigated for lung cancer

Hello all, just that. I'm really scared. I have almost all of the symptoms - breathlessness that is worse with activity, chest discomfort / pain, coughing, and tiredness. . Am post-Chest CT scan, followed by PET scan, waiting for next stage. But now hospital want a CT scan of my liver and pelvis after spotting what they think is a heamangeoma on my liver. But why my pelvis? I told them I had had recurrent bladder infections in the past, which I was now on medication for and that has all been settled downfor a few years now. That is the only reason I can think why they want to do pelvis AND liver.

This wait is horrible. I have been through it before, about 6 years ago, albeit only for my chest, and you would think I would be used to it. I have asthma and previous lung issues (not cancer but numerous chest infections in the past, including one for which I was treated with a cocktail of antibiotics for two years.) Earlier today I was OK but now I'm really scared.

  • A warm welcome to the forum ScaredyCat99 although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

As you say, the wait for tests and results is not nice but I hope it helps to know that you are not alone on this journey as many members of our community have been where you are now and know how tough this time can be so I'm sure some of them will pop by when they can to offer you some support and advice.

I hope some of the tips in this article will help you stay calm whilst you wait but if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very friendly, and insightful, and they'll do all they can to answer your questions.

I really hope your CT scan goes well and nothing sinister is found.

    Kind regards,
