Breast Indent

I noticed an indentation on the underside of my right breast Tuesday evening (30th August) passing it off as a mark caused by my bra I went to bed. Waking up Wednesday morning it was the first thing on my mind and looked into the mirror to check, it was a line almost like a shadow, I can only describe it as looking like a muscle tear under my skin. I rang for a gp appointment that morning and was seen within half an hour. My indentation vanishes when I lay down or lift my arm so I'm not completely sure what I'm dealing with, my gp said she can feel glandular changes (whatever that means) and referred me on the 2 week pathway. My appointment came through on the Thursday morning for this Monday coming 5th September. I have gone through every emotion going since Wednesday morning and now I'm almost talking myself into believing it'll be something and nothing while my stomach still turns in knotts. I can't find any information that corresponds to my situation so I'd love to hear your experiences, good or bad. Tomorrow is going to be a loooong day x

  • My mum has been to the breast clinic a couple of times on the pathway with similar things and it has turned out to be what your GP stated as glandular changes, she says one of her breasts mammograms looks thick with fatty tissue but physically they're both fine and there has never been a problem, so don't let your mind race too far ahead just yet. There's absolutely no way of knowing until the day. I would recommend taking someone with you on the day as on the slim chance that they do find something, they will tell you on the day and may even need to do a biopsy, so some support will be necessary.

There are lots of posts on here about what to expect at the breast clinic so hopefully these will be helpful and ease your concerns. Any kind of breast change activated the two week wait pathway, it doesn't mean they definitely think it's cancer, it's just to be sure they catch it if it is. I sincerely hope that today rushes by for you and the results are what you hope for.

    Best wishes, xx

  • Thank you so much for your reply, that's just what I needed to hear
