Cervical cancer?

Hi, I've been wanting to post for while but I was scares but feel I need to do it, I just need some advice..

So let me explain, I'm 32 years old I'm up to date with all my smear 1st was normal, 2nd was hpv positive and cin3 had lletz procedure and repeat smear 3month later everything normal, 3rd smear last year in march everything perfectly normally, nurse mentioned she could see the scarring on my cervix from the lletz procedure etc, fast forward to October I decided to be put on the nexaplanon implant for numerous reasons so that was put in then this is where things started my periods were all over the place which is to be expected In the first couple of months of any sort on contraception, so I didn't think much of it, pain in my lower lack was and still is terrible but I must say that Im very over weight and 6ft 2, so put it down to that roll on beginning of this year, I then started bleeding a day after sex and it's the most smallest of amounts only there when I wipe etc, it happens every time so I'd had enough and went to the doctors, the doctor was lovely and took a look at my cervix, she said where my scar tissue is from lletz procedure there's a small polyp really small which is causing the bleeding after sex and more discharge, she said apart from that that everything looks healthy etc she took some swabs which came back clear and she also referred me to gynae to have the polyp removed, she didn't put me on the 2 week pathway as she didn't think it was anything serious at all, she was more bothered about my weight which she said is causing my pains in my back, hips and legs. Anyway I've got my app on the 16th September and I'm so scared she's got it wrong and I've got cervical cancer and it's been left so long and all the pain etc Is down to that, can a doctor get it wrong when it comes to polyps?

I've got 3 yound children at home and I'm just terrified for a bad outcome. So sorry for the rant I just need someone to chat with

Xxx

  • Hi Jenlou344,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. No need to apologise for the rant - it's what this forum is here for, and it is often helpful to write things down and to reach out to others.

You've done everything right in terms of speaking to the doctor, and it sounds like you can take some reassurance from what they have said so far. 16th September isn't too long to wait (although I appreciate it may feel like a long wait) - I hope it all goes OK at the appointment, and in the meantime try to keep busy if you can to help keep distracted from any worries.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
