confused about test results and way forward

Following ultrasound, hystersocopy, blood tests , CT and MRI scans, I received the results by letters to say that the scans had shown several benign looking cysts up to 5.5cm on both ovaries, uterine fibroids, womb lining of 14.9mm but nothing of concern and CA125 normal.  MDT's plan was to repeat the blood tests in 4 weeks and enometrial biospy in 6 months. Is this normal practice?

I admit it leaves me confused. I still have the daily bleeding, pelvic pains etc that took me to the GP in the first place but no relief/treatment now for 6 months?

And anyone know how my situation works in terms of 1/medical holiday insurance and 2/jury duty.  I have already deferred jury duty but there is a good chance it will clash with my biopsy appointment. Anyone know if I can claim medical exemption? so confused

  • Hello Leni56

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health problems. Whilst it's reassuring that the investigations you've had haven't raised any immediate cause for concern it's understandable that you're still feeling anxious and worried, particularly as the symptoms haven't been resolved.

We do know that some members here have been put on a "watch and wait" plan where the team decides to monitor and re-examine in a given period of time. However, that doesn't solve your issues in the meantime. Do speak to your GP about your concerns and what support may be available until your next appointment with the specialist.

In terms of holiday insurance, you'll find lots of posts here on the forum where other members have recommended insurance companies that they have used. It is likely that you will have to speak to the insurance companies directly rather than arranging things online so that they can make an assessment according to your individual circumstances.

With regards to your query about jury service, you can find more information about that on the government website here

If you want to talk things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
