CT result

Hello, I've not been on here for about a year, everything has been going so well until today.

I had breast cancer 3 years ago, had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy, in July I had a clear mammogram, so happy.

in April I had a hysterectomy for heavy periods and they took my ovaries as well as my cancer was estrogen positive.

since my hysterectomy I have been in agony and I finally had a CT scan last week of my abdomen and pelvis. Yesterday I started bleeding so GP sent me to the hospital where I was examined and gynae doctor chased up my CT scan.

He rang me last night about 5.30 to tell me my results and then said oh by the way there is an abnormal area identified on the other side of your right breast, you need to get an urgent referral and then he went. What great news to hear late on a Friday afternoon when everything is shut.

Now where he identified the abnormal area is exactly where my cancer was so where my lumpectomy was done and obviously where my radiation was.

my breast care news is amazing, she's on holiday but emailed to say it is quite common that other departments see things on scans that turn out to be nothing when examined by the breast team.

sorry this is such a long post, I'm wondering if anyone has had similar, I'm praying the area they are talking about is scar tissue/lymphedema etc but I am terrified now.

Thanks for reading xx

  • Hi Ploppy,

I'm glad you've had some good news but I understand this must be concerning, especially with the minimal information it sounds like you've received so far.

I'm not sure if you have the referral in place yet or not, but either way I hope it's not too long to wait for this and for the answers you need.

Meanwhile if others have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,
