Spitting up blood now on 2ww to see lung specialist

About 4 months ago I suffered awful chest pain and was spitting up small amounts of blood. A&e suspected a blood clot and low and behold my D Dimer was raised. But a scan revealed I had no clot in my lungs.

4 months later my D Dimer is still raised, I'm still spitting small amounts of blood everyday. I am constantly knackered it's awful. And I get lots of flank/back pain.

after been fobbed off I asked to see a different GP who said the D Dimer shouldn't be raised and of course spitting blood isn't normal. And she has referred me on the 2ww to see a lung specialist.

i am absolutely terrified. I've had three lung X-rays that are all clear so that's good I guess.

anyone else had similar experience? Thanks xxx

  • Hi Carrie-Ann206,

It's good to hear that you followed this up with a different GP and that you now have the referral. This should mean you get the answers you need before too long, although I appreciate the uncertainty and the waiting is difficult.

If others here have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    WIshing you all the best,
