Worried

I have found lumps in my vaginal area and it is really itchy, I have been using creams but it keeps coming back. Very red and sometimes I have noticed blood coming away when I am in the shower and washing. This is quite embarrassing. I know we shouldn't Google but it all seems to point to cancer. I am 55 years old and have had a hysterectomy, please help, am I overthinking things

  • Thank god it's not just me, that is a polite way to put it, I could definitely do that when the itch comes, it is so intense. What symptoms did you have when you found out about your cancer?

  • I had broken, ulcerated skin pretty much all over my vulva. It itched and often bled a small amount as well. I was seeing a gynae consultant every 6 months because I've always had pre-cancerous changes on my cervix and the wall of my vagina. I had some biopsies done in September last year which showed that the majority were VIN 3 (pre-cancerous) but a large ulcerated area was cancer.

  • Oh I am so sorry, that must have been scary, I can't see anything other than the lumps, all I can do is see my GP then take things from there. How are you now? X

  • I've just finished radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I'm still getting a few side effects from the radiotherapy but I'm not too bad and I know I could feel a lot worse!

There are lot's of different reasons for lumps on the vulva so try not to think the worst....although I know that's not easy.

I'm here if you have any questions or want to talk. Xx
