Constant Headaches for 3 months+..

Hi, I'm Nathan. I've had extremely bad head aches, dizziness and pressure in my head for months to the point where it's waking me up every night and I'm in tears.

The doctors said at first that it's just a tension head ache, but didn't do a single test.. they told me to wait 6 weeks and come back if it's no better. I lasted 3 weeks and had to go back, the room was spinning, my eyes are twitching and I am feeling really weak. No matter what they've given me, the pressure will not die down. It feels like my brain is too big for my skull!

They have finally referred me for scans and blood tests. Now it's all I can think about, and I feel like it's impacting my job as I'm exhausted and worrying about being unwell. I'm really struggling! Has anyone has similar symptoms and feel the GP just want you to leave them alone?? Anyway, rant over.. thanks for reading.

  • Hi Nathan

Im really sorry to hear this and know what your going through, I too back in March was suffering with intense headaches that last about 5 minutes at a time. Felt like the worlds worst brain freeze with my brain in a clamp. Like yourself GP's said tension headaches, too much caffeine, not enough water, work stress, stress of a new baby. Prescribed an antiflamutry drug that didn't work. My headaches got worse and I was now vomiting and collapsing with them as my legs felt weak. I was then prescribed beta blockers which then made them feel worse and I was now having 10/15 headache attacks a day. Ended up in A&E 4 times and finally they referred me to a headache specialist.

Today I've had my Mri scan and I'm the unlucky 1 in 30,000 that has a brain tumour behind my right eye.

I don't mean to scare you and I'm writing this message from my hosiptal bed where I'm awaiting a full body mri to make sure it's not spread anywhere else. I'm in total shock being a relative for 34 year old who doesn't smoke or drink.

Also if you can book an eye test as mine also showed warning signs with inflamed optic nerves and a bleed.

I wish you all the best

    Jason

  • Jason! I am so sorry to hear that, life can be cruel. You are being looked after now and I hope you will make a full recovery!

My headaches started off as attacks, but now it just feels like it won't go away. It's a constant head ache and fatigue.
