Vulvar cervix and womb biopsies

Hi, I am 27 and have just undergone some biopsies a couple of days ago.

I have been suffering with severe itching for a couple of years which causes trauma to the vulva daily and has had a significant impact on my life recently. During vulvoscopy my gynae dr told me a patch came up white which she has taken a sample from, same for the cervix and she took some of the womb too as my USS showed thickening.

I am just wondering if anybody so young has had experience of this? My vulva is my main issue right now and I am anxious about the result. How long did you wait?

any advice or guidance welcomed here. Thank you x

  • Hi Nicole

I waited 6 weeks from when I had my biopsies done to my diagnosis. I'm not as young as yourself but my vulva issues started when I was about 35 although my cervical problems started with my first smear at 25.

I'm here to chat or if you have any other questions.

  • That's interesting thank you. I'm sorry to hear you have been through this. Was your vulva cancer? Iv had abnormal cells and HPV since my first ever smear but started with the severe itching and soreness a couple of years ago but has just got worse and worse since. Feeling very confused x

  • Hi

Yes it was a mixture of VIN 3 and cancer. I've also got HPV.

The itching was awful....I felt like ripping my skin off. Have you seen anyone about it during the last couple of years before you saw the gynae Dr?

  • Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. Could you visibly see it before your diagnosis? The itching is causing cuts, bleeding and soreness daily now. When she did the vulvoscopy she said the staining showed a white patch which she took biopsy's from but in the recent months Iv had problems with my periods suddenly, pain and bleeding irregularly. Apart from some freckles appearing in the area there was no lesions but just severe skin irritation and some slight discolouring. I have been to the drs with itching but just told it was dryness or unknown! Never investigated until my periods and things changed x

  • Oh yes it was very visible.....I had numerous areas of red, ulcerated and broken skin that would occasionally bleed.

  • I get ulcerated skin but it clears and then comes back the week after! That isn't the part she's taken a biopsy from which has thrown me completely. After having the vulvoscopy the other day the acid has completely burnt me and I am in a state atm with ulcerated skin, can't walk or sit properly . I had it done Wednesday x

  • I know what you mean.... I struggle to sit normally since my vulvectomy and the radiotherapy. I also waddle when i walk....a bit like a penguin  There are different things which could be causing the ulcerated skin though. Vulva cancer is really rare in young women. Xx
