Worried sick - dramatic increase in FIT test results

Hello I'm new to posting as just had my second FIT test result now on fast track for colonoscopy. So, I  was given 2 FIT tests to complete. I did one 26 August 2022 which came back at 10ug/g. The second one came back 30 August and was 128.80 ug/g. Can this be right to have such an increase in 4 days?

History of cancer in the family-both parents and 2 brothers. I also have a lot of flatulence which I didn't put down to anything other than my high fibre/low fat diet.

Recently I had a routine blood test which showed elevated ALP levels in my liver . Had an abdominal scan which showed my kidneys were slighlty (doctors description) enlarged now referred for CT scan. Repeat blood test showed liver ALP level back in  normal range.

I am connecting dots here in the wrong direction and it's scaring me. Has anyone else has such a dramatic increase in their FIT tests?

Thnak you and wishing the best for everyone

  • Hello Calby

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some abnormal FIT results and that you're now waiting for further tests.

We know that for some people this period of uncertainty can be difficult and many people think of the worst-case scenario. It is important to try and remain positive if you can. Worrying won't change the outcome but it will in the meanwhile leave you feeling anxious and with a whole host of other physical symptoms.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and the team will be able to give you some news and reassurance on the day. In the meantime, you might find it useful to read through this article about waiting for news as well as this information on the NHS website about coping with health anxiety.

I hope you have some positive news soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
