Super fast... Should I be worried?

Hi, I found a small lump in my forearm last week. I went to the doctor's yesterday and although she didn't think it was anything to be worried about she referred me for an ultrasound. So today I get a call from the ultrasound clinic and they book me in for tomorrow!! Now I'm not expert but that's super fast, I thought we had long waiting lists. Should I be worried at how quick I'm getting seen?

The lump is about 1cm in length, soft and moveable.

No other symptoms.

Appreciate any words of wisdom

Thank you

  • I'm sorry about the lump you've found on your forearm and for the worry the speed of your referral being booked in is causing worriedmommy.

I know it's difficult but try not to read too much in to this if you can as it could simply be that the clinic had a cancellation at the last minute and a spot became available. Some parts of the country are still quite badly affected by backlogs but you may find that the ultrasound clinic in your part of the UK has managed to get through theirs and is on top of things again.

I'm sure some of our members will offer their thoughts and reassurances about this to you soon but in the meantime I just wanted to wish you all the best for tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed for good news.

    All the best,

  • I would try not to read anything into the speed of it - it could just be that they had a cancellation or just simply appointments available. I had the same timescale for an MRI recently. Two others in the waiting room clearly had letters/written appointments, I had to give my name and tell them I'd had a phone call the previous day. My results were good and I hope yours are too.

  • Thank you. That's what my rational head said too. I was having a bit of a panic moment when I got off the phone to them. It's a no win situation, I'd be worrying if I hadn't got an appointment and I'm worrying when I do get one. Appointment tomorrow afternoon, so hoping I'm a little more reassured after that.

Do you know whether they'd tell me the outcome of the results there and then or is there a wait?

    Thank you
