breast clinic tomorrow

hi, so i'm 25 and i found a lump last monday, it feels smooth and maybe 1cm or slightly bigger, it's quite deep in so i'm unsure. i went to gp on friday (was too anxious to call sooner) and they referred me to breast clinic for tests. my appointment is tomorrow, they called and said they had a cancellation.. should i be worried about how soon that is? also what can i expect?

i'm really worried about it because i do have two lumps, one is slightly bigger and has been there for quite a few years now and i never did get that checked before finding the other one. i'm anxious but i know whatever it is i will hopefully deal with it. i'm just scared for the appointment and what they will say. i keep thinking ahead to if it is BC, the treatment etc and i know this is bad but i can't help it, everyone keeps telling me it's okay and will be nothing but i'm unsure.

anyway, i just came to ask what should i expect at the clinic? wait times for results etc

thanks x

  • Hi Katie, I've been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in July. It's better to get it checked out even if you do think it was quick. On my first appointment I had a mammogram and went back up a week later for results. When I went the second time I had an ultrasound scan and they did a biopsy. Had the results for that about 2 weeks later.  Hope everything goes well for you and best wishes. If you need to chat im here xx

  • Hi!

Don't be worrying about the fact that you have had your appointment quickly. It simply is what they say. They've had a cancellation. I've been the breast clinic multiple times in recent years and on one occasion got a next day - it was a cyst.

8/10 lumps are benign so the odds are in your favour. Good luck x
