Left Breast Pain which radiates down left arm

Hi.

I started with pain in my left breast back in May which then was accompanied with pain down my left arm.

Went to my GP after a month, who referred me to the breast clinic. There I had an ultrasound and was given the all clear.

Pain has not improved, if anything I feel like it's worse. Can not feel any lumps but do have tenderness when feeling my breast especially behind the nipple.

I've been referred back to the breast clinic and have my appointment tomorrow. I'm so anxious and have been having sleepless nights. Just wanted to hear other people's stories and thoughts and any advice would be welcome. Thanks xxx

  • Hello Char1711 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear that the pain in your left arm has not improved. As it's been worse, you did the right thing to go back to the GP to get it evaluated. It must be very stressful for you to have to go back to the breast clinic after being given the all clear.

I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. You've been to the breast clinic before so you probably know what to expect but I thought I would share information with you from the Breast Cancer Now website on what to expect at a breast clinic appointment. Waiting for answers can be truly nerve racking but there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope with waiting for important news. Keep well away if you can from the temptation of looking anything up online as this will only make you feel more anxious, bring up irrelevant and inaccurate information and will make you imagine the worst.

I hope that you will hear from other forum members who have been in a similar place before and that they will come and share their experience with you.

Best of luck for your appointment tomorrow. I hope that they find out what is causing this pain. Everything crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing of concern and that this pain goes away quickly.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi,

I am experiencing these exact same symptoms, been going on about 6 weeks. Been to doctors, no lumps found, advised to try voltarol for the next 2 weeks, if no difference go back to GP. I'm a week in using voltarol and no difference at all, still pain, sharp and achy.

  • Hi,

I went to my appointment and to be honest it felt like a waste of time. I didn't have any scans and it was the same consultant who just told me he guarantees me it's nothing sinister and that the breast pain is due to hormones.

I've tried naproxen and co-codomol and these only seem to take the edge off. The thing is i also don't want to become dependent on pain killers. I've had a constant headache for the last week since I've stopped talking them. Not sure if this is withdrawal effects or stress

I just feel really anxious at the moment and not really sleeping because of the worry.

I'm going to give starflower oil a try and castor oil packs and see if that helps. If not do you think it's worth getting a second opinion or paying privately for a mammogram. I think this would help with the anxiety.

    XxX

  • Hi,

Mines the same, it's so draining to be in constant pain all the time isn't it.

I tried Voltarol but this didn't really help. I was then given Naproxen and Co-codomol which take the edge off slightly but make me feel abit spaced out which I don't like.

I've been reading up on breast health and i'm going to try some herbal remedies like Starflower oil and Castor oil packs with heat.

I hope you can get some relief with yours x

  • Hope you do too, it's so frustrating
