Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone may have any advice or stories that could maybe help with mine. It's quite a long one thanks for reading.
I'm 31 non smoker female..., 4-5 years ago I started always having abnormal fbc blood counts, my results are usually around this marker
White blood cell count - between 14-16 neutrophills 9-10 lymphocytes 3-5
First couple of years my gp just ignored them never really followed them up I think they just thought it was the norm for me. Until 3 years ago I started with lymph node swelling painless, had them scanned and 1 aspiration came back just filled with white cells and unclear results. I kept having my fbc repeated and always the same results, I went to a haematologist in 2017 who did ct scan of abdomen all clear, did a LDH blood test that came back raised. All his advice was is that it's probs nothing and just get my gp to do my fbc every 6 months. Fast forward to April this year, iv moved gps and had some routine bloods done again with fbc, like usual every 3-6 months all still abnormal, but I got a phone call from a gp asking me to go in and see her we discussed my white cell count and at this point I told her I had another painless lymph node in my neck, she wanted me to he seen by haematology again as she said the fbc is not right, she'd also done LDH test again and still was elevated, also did uric acid that was elevated too with no symptoms of gout.
Had my appointment Monday consultant was nice, said can see you have been to see us before and basically just said I'm going to order a Jak2 test and what I'm looking for in that test is leukemia, so he asked if I would go have it done there and then I said yes, he said the bloods can take couple of weeks to come back so I will make you a follow up appointment, I'm not scared of the outcome or anxious really but I feel there has to be an explanation surley for the raised fbc constantly? The only symptoms I have is tiredness and for past few months my left shoulder just aches quite alot and obviously the lymph nodes that come up in my neck for a few months and then disappear again. Iv never had a jak2 test the last consultant never did one and iv never had a bone marrow biopsy.
I work for the NHS and do quite alot of blood work so understand quite alot about blood tests but not alot about the jak2, I suppose I'd just really like some answers, surly it can't just be the norm?
