Lump on collarbone?

Hello

I'm new to this chat and just wanted some advice on a few things. I went to the doctors about 5 weeks ago as I was so poorly with a horrific sore throat (not covid). Dr said it was probably a viral infection that would clear up in a few days. 2 days later I discovered a hard lump on my collarbone I left it as I quite often get swollen lymph nodes when I'm ill (however this was a hard immovable painless lump).

My sore throat & lump was still there after 10 days so I went back to the doctors who brushed me off. I also showed the doctors a very small lump that had appeared behind my ear 4 months ago. The doctor said 'well that just feels like bone' and wait 2 weeks after my throat had got better to see if the lump was gone.

long story short 2 weeks had past my throat had gotten much better but still sore spells on one side and the lump was still there. I went back to the doctors and she referred me for an X-ray. At the X-ray department they referred me for a CT scan as it's better for that area.

The technician said my doctors would give me a call 7-10 days with the result, 2 and a bit weeks on and I spoke to the CT department today who said they are 2-4 weeks behind.

I can't help but worry during this time and the lump is very promenant on my collarbone.

Wondered if anyone had went through anything similar? And how long they waited for their results?

thanks

  • Hi, been through the same process and after ultra sound went for a biopsy then scans.

Results were normally within 10 days - sort of the week after any procedure.

Its difficult but try not to overthink this and focus on looking after yourself properly with good food and supplements.

Drink plenty of filtered water - 3-4 litres / day.

Staying hydrated will give you the edge on recovery/fighting any infections.

Eat organic if you can and stay away from processed foods.

Try IBT - inclined bed therapy - lift the head of your bed 2-3 inches (5-7cm) for a few weeks and increase up to 6 inches (15cm) once used to the incline.

Sleep well too - minimum 8 hrs.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello

Thank you this is all really useful!
If you don't mind me asking what was the diagnosis of your lump?

    thanks

  • Hey,

My diagnosis was malignant and thats ok. We are all different and all react differently to cancer.
its ok to be worried - thats natural.
its also ok to research and look at treatment with an open mind/book as it were.
there are lots of options to explore - it depends on how you perceive your wellbeing and how you generally look after yourself.
suggest trying to chill and wait for your results.
in the meantime make good choices with your intake.
relax and try jot to overthink it.
suggest staying away from the 'internet doctors' as its difficult to see through all the doom and gloom at times.
    take care.
