More waits

Hi.

I found a lump in my right breast near my armpit back in June. I seen my GP and was referred under the 2 week rule to my local breast clinic.

I was seen there and the nurse confirmed she could feel something and referred me for an ultrasound  due to issues in my local hospital the one stop breast clinic is currently unable to run as it should so unfortunately there's a large wait for the next step (ultrasound) I have since had my ultrasound where they seen something but as it was only a few mm they didn't want to do a biopsie.

I have now recieved a letter stating a hyperechoic mass was seen on the ultrasound and therefore I need reviewed with an appointment for September.

I know we shouldn't Google but we do! I can't help but feel worried. This has went on for sometime the lump hasn't gone away and it's just such a long wait to know what's happening. I looked at a private one stop clinic but just can't afford it right now.

I was just looking to see if anyone has experienced anything similar

  • I literally just updated my own post with frustration (and tears!) about wait times. Many others here have similar stories. I think the wait is probably even longer for you because you weren't referred on a 2 week wait due to the small size of the lump, which is unfortunate. Are you in any pain or have any other symptoms, as if you are you can call the GP about it and be re-referred which may speed up the process (but obv no guarantees).

I don't have answers but lots of empathy and support. Here if you need to chat.

  • Hi Laura. Lots of love sent your way.

I was referred under the 2 week wait but unfortunately due to issues at our hospital the one stop clinic doesn't run so I got an initial appointment but they couldn't do and ultra sound thay day due to staffing issues so it's now into a few months it will actually be 4 months by the time I get back to my next appointment  all I know is my ultrasound wasn't "normal" so obviously the brain is ticking
