Waiting for ultrasound results.

Hi everyone. Posting here as I need a quick vent.

Around a month and a half ago I went to my doctor with some tenderness in my abdomen (only when pressure is applied), difficulty moving my bowels and the sudden return of my period after having the coil for 2 years. I have lost weight but have been trying to do so and am on pills to help with it.

After having blood tests my CA125 was found to be hugely raised (Over 3000). I was referred for urgent scan of my ovaries etc. The tech could not give me the results. It's now been almost 3 weeks since the scans were done and I have had no news. I called my GP's office and was told there were still no results in. She asked what time frame they had given me and said I should double it! Unfortunately they never told me a time frame. So now here I am stuck in limbo, worried that I've got cancer growing inside me but am in a massive queue waiting while it grows. I have two children, I'm terrified that their future doesn't have me in it and that the longer this takes the less time I will have :(.

I'm also struggling with sleep as the tenderness in my abdomen means I can't lie on my back, front and sometimes my left side, so I'm basically limited to sleeping on my right side which is now causing soreness in my shoulder and neck. The only thing keeping me going at this point is telling myself that surely if it were Cancer, I'd not be waiting so long for news, right? Only the state of the NHS now doesn't fill me with hope :(

Anyone had similar symptoms and it not been cancer?

Thanks.

  • I think no news is good news. Three weeks is far too long.

I had similar things and more, I had my ultrasound. She told me results are usually reviewed within a week, but I heard from my GP with results within 24 hours. I was told they'd contact you ASAP if it was flagged. I would phone Hopsital ultrasound department to ask for timescales, and contact PALS if you avail
