BCC worry

I have had a small lump on my scalp for the past 2 - 3 years which has given me no grief and I had kept forgetting about. Went to doctor today who has made urgent referral to dermatologist with possibility of it being basal cell cancer. I am aware that if caught early, it can be 100% treatable, however am wondering what is the timeframe of 'early'? I am worried it has been spreading and will cause further issues.

  • Hi Monique and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the lump you've been contending with over the last few years and that the doctor has said it may be a BCC.

I know this must be scary but I hope this information we have about urgent referrals will help ease your mind whilst you wait.

Hopefully some of our members will share their BCC experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Fingers crossed all goes well with your referral and the results bring good news when they come through.

    Kind regards,
