Sudden severe pelvic pain, improved but still there?

Hi guys,

Thought I'd post here as have been sick with worry and don't have anyone to talk to about this and wondering if others have went through similar?

A month ago I woke up with a twinge pain in my right ovary. I thought I pulled a muscle so got on with my day. As the days went on it got worse. Started bleeding heavily with clots, felt pressure on my right leg causing pins and needles in my foot, and pressure under my rib. My right ovary in particular felt like it was on fire and in general bad. Both had regular stabbing pains. It was scary.

Went to docs and ER twice. Had smear tests which were fine, 2 thorough pelvic exams, CBC was fine, no infections or STDs, not pregnant. My WBC was 12.1 but doctors didn't seem worried. Still no answers.

I got given strong antibiotics for suspection of PID. I think they helped as the pain and inflammation is a lot better. Still feel very off though. I feel like there's been some sort of damage?

Just had a period recently after the incident and it was noticeably worse than any I've had before. Was bleeding a lot. That lasted around 5 days and now its bleeding when I need to make a bowel movement or I just move too much in general. Also feel pressure again under my right rib! Im confused as I'm not bloated at all and very soft. I eat fine too when I'm not anxious.

I have a pelvic and transvaginal on the 31st of August. I was asking for one to begin with but the doctors wanted to rule out other things. Very worried and trying not to think of worse case scenarios. Doesn't help I developed a bad oral and vaginal yeast infection during all of this!! And double ear infection!!

I am 27, never had kids, no family history of breast or ovarian cancer but cancer does seem to run in my family. I am on Nexplanon birth control and have had irregular periods for years but always thought that was due to the birth control and having severe anxiety. Now I'm not so sure. :(

  • Hello Rebeca95

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems over the last month. It's understandable that you have questions and concerns about what may be causing your symptoms.

It's good to know that so far the tests you've had haven't given any immediate cause for concern and that you have an ultrasound arranged for later this month. Hopefully, that scan will give your GP some information to help make a proper diagnosis.

We know that waiting for tests and results can be a difficult time. Try to avoid searching the internet for information if you can as this rarely gives answers and most often leaves people feeling even more worried. Instead, try to keep busy and focus on what you do know.

If you'd like to chat with our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that things settle and improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
