So I am actually not really sure what I am hoping from with this post, reassurance I guess.
Brief back history, my 11yr old daughter has had a problem with her knee for 4 years and I have tried numerous times to seek help but kept getting dismissed. Until earlier this year after seeing a lump in her knee and her knee keep giving way on her our gp sent her for an mri. Called a couple of weeks later from the gp to be told she has a loose body and he will refer to orthopaedics. We go to get the surgeon who says yes indeed she has a very large lump and will need open surgery to remove it. Surgery scheduled for September. Then out of nowhere I get a call for her to have another mri only with the contrast, the next day. Thought it was strange but assumed it was prep for the op. 6days later I receive a letter telling me my daughter is now under the care of the sarcoma team at an orthopaedic hospital and we are seeing the oncologist next week. Out of nowhere! After many calls a completely different consultant calls me and says he believes the lump is a tumor and its grown and changed since her last mri. I am just wondering how accurate are mri scans? And would they do this referral if they weren't concerned?
